Why Now: When Madison acquired Solar Empowered Schools earlier this year, we recognized the extraordinary power it had in providing access to energy education to students in communities everywhere.  Built from the ground up by Meghan Milo, Madison’s SES Curriculum Lead and Director of Energy Solutions, the program was and is driven by a clear and simple driving force: “Students are at the hearts of schools. Schools are the centers of communities.”

Solar Empowered Schools integrates clean energy into education by turning onsite solar arrays into living laboratories for students. Madison’s commitment to delivering clean energy and cost savings to clients hasn’t changed, we want our partners, which now include over 150 schools, educational facilities and universities nationwide, to be able to access the power of renewable energy without any upfront costs—and now, while also providing students and teachers with access to innovative STEM curricula.

What’s next: We’re not just relaunching. We’re reorienting. In early 2025, Solar Empowered Schools will return with a bold new vision: bigger impact, smarter tools, and a digital-first experience that delivers where it matters most — for students, teachers, and school leaders.

  • A refreshed brand that matches the program’s ambition.
  • A modernized website that simplifies and connects.
  • Updated course content that meets the moment — and prepares for the future.
  • Immersive VR videos and a state-of-the-art platform that make learning real and unforgettable.

Milestones of Connection: We’ve hosted five educational events with our clients across the country, we’ve connected with students, faculty, school boards, and even White House representatives. In Albemarle, Virginia, we hosted a solar spin art lesson, allowing students to create unique artworks while learning about photovoltaic technology. At the Pasadena ArtCenter College of Design, we celebrated our partnership with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at this cutting-edge institution.  And in North Stafford, Virginia, students used VR technology to explore their new solar rooftop, blending their clean energy journey with immersive, hands-on education.

Be the First to Know: Sign Up for Exclusive Prelaunch Access In early 2025, Solar Empowered Schools is relaunching with bold upgrades that will transform how schools invest, educate, and inspire. By joining our newsletter, you’ll get exclusive prelaunch content, behind-the-scenes updates, and a first look at the future of clean energy education.

Together, we’re not just building solar arrays — we’re empowering students, educators, and communities to lead the way.
